The season’s grand opening starts with a concert by Fastlane - Celebrating the Eagles on Sunday May 25th, Fastlane sets the stage for a diverse lineup this year that includes Grammy-nominated hip-hop group Nappy Roots (June 8), swing/ska pioneers Cherry Poppin' Daddies (July 6), and Latin sensation 512 The Selena Experience (August 17).
The series features two distinct programs: ticketed Sunday performances by national touring acts, and Thunder on the Island's free Wednesday evening concerts showcasing regional talent. Contributions from advertising partners help fund the free Wednesday night shows. Both events take place on Clover Island's waterfront, offering concert-goers stunning Columbia River views and summer sunsets.
This 20th Anniversary season will be produced by Emerald Spark Events and will be the first year that the series is not produced by Clover Island Inn. Concessions will be provided by local restaurant Emerald of Siam and offerings will include full bar, burgers, dogs and a little Thai flair!

Approaching its 20th anniversary, the Thunder on the Island concert series at Clover Island Inn is a summertime entertainment staple in Tri-Cities.
It’s in a unique location on the island owned by the Port of Kennewick. The Clover Island Inn is a popular place to stay for those visiting Tri-Cities, with waterfront views and restaurant and recreational options nearby.

After the retirement of Mark Blotz - creator and curator of Thunder on the Island and the Clover Island Concert Series since 2005 and the purchase of the Clover Island Inn by an arm of the Hilton Hotel franchise concert goers have been left wondering if this meant the end of the concert series. But big news: Emerald Spark Events will take the reins to usher the event into its 20th year, promising an even more dynamic and engaging experience for music lovers.
Thunder on the Island and the Clover Island Concert Series, a cornerstone of summer entertainment in the Tri-Cities, has long been a celebration of community spirit, local talent, and live music, attracting audiences from near and far. With the Port of Kennewick presenting a brand new state-of-the-art portable stage to the site in 2024 Emerald Spark Events is committed to upholding its’ legacy while infusing fresh energy and creativity into the series.
